This could be you…

Main Ticket Sale starts Monday, Sept. 30 at 8 pm Eastern time
There are three steps to getting an AfterBurn ticket.

  1. Read the ticket policies, so you understand what you’re getting yourself into.
  2. Buy your AfterBurn Ticket for $105. Vehicle passes and RV passes are also available, and quantities are limited.
  3. Read on for step 3!

Step 3: No spectators: Real Burners volunteer
Once you have your ticket in hand, you are ready to start participating. We are a 100{110293bbcb802f0d3273ec3ed2a9036c4a117c04a3d38823d15ba3bc99706c52} volunteer-run event, and we need every one of you shiny participants! Here’s how it works: Go to the SignupGenius link and start reading about volunteer shifts. Pick a couple that sound interesting and sign yourself up.

Are you new to AfterBurn? That’s OK, we’ll show you what to do. When you sign up for volunteer shifts in advance, you help the event run smoothly. We promise you’ll make new friends while you’re volunteering — maybe you’ll even meet Bob!

Theme camps are magical places
We’ve received about a dozen submissions for theme camps, those magical places where the community gathers and does fun stuff. If you’re planning a theme camp, get yourself over to the Theme Camps page on the website to submit it: www.floridaafterburn.com/theme-camps. Remember, the best placement does not go to last-minute entries!

Got art? Bring it!
AfterBurn welcomes all kinds of art — if you have a piece you’d like to bring, let us know how big it is, so we can help you place it! For the first time, we have lots of room for indoor art in our giant Indaba gallery. There also will be a blacklight gallery and a Florida Burns history museum. Use this form https://forms.gle/G53TZD3sfsWvhGrq7 to submit your self-funded art.

Art grant submissions are now closed and community voting has concluded on those 11 pieces. We’ll get back to you with those results in next week’s Blurb.

This could be you…
Did you know that Bob accepts content submissions from folks like you? If you have a Burning story to share, please reach out to Bob via email. Blurbs must be less than 200 words and relevant to the entire AfterBurn community.

HEY, GUYS!

Announcing a fabulous new venue for The Burns Phambly Reunion at Camp AfterBurn!
Camp La Llanada, 2819 Tiger Lake Rd, Lake Wales, FL 33898
November 1-3, 2019

This past weekend, the organizing committee, department leads, and Burnt Oranges directors held a Leadership Summit at the new venue. We conducted safety training, scoped out the property, and decided where to put the art. The camp is a well-developed FLAT property with shady camping, a swimming pool, showers, and indoor gallery space. Most importantly, it has fewer ants!

The Camp AfterBurn announcement video.
  • Tickets will go on sale September 30 at $105 per participant. AfterBurn is an all-volunteer event, so as soon as you purchase your ticket, you’ll need to go to Signup Genius and sign up for shifts. We’ll provide that signup link in our Sept. 30 announcement. We recommend you buy your ticket ASAP, because if we get enough volunteers to release additional tickets, the price will go up after the first block of “Volun-Tier” tickets are sold.
  • If you are a Mandarin Supporter, thank you! You will receive a separate email with a code that allows you to purchase a $90 discounted ticket right now.
  • Did you do a ton of volunteering at last year’s AfterBurn? Reach out to your team lead or send an email to . You may be able to buy your ticket early!
  • Everyone attending must have a ticket, including children. Minion tickets are available at the following prices: Under 5, free; 5-11 years old, $45; and 12-17 years old, $90.

Vehicle Passes
To encourage carpooling, every vehicle coming to the event must have a Vehicle Pass. These are available during all ticket sales for $10 per vehicle. Please note: There is no offsite parking, so every vehicle coming to the event will need to purchase a pass.

RV Passes
We have a parking lot set aside with a limited amount of space for RVs and camping trailers. If you are planning to camp in an RV or travel trailer, you’ll need to purchase a $25 RV Pass instead of a Vehicle Pass.

Theme Camp Registration is now open!
Now that you know where we’ll be, it’s time to submit your theme camp registration. To submit the details of your awesome plans, go to the Theme Camp page.

Art Grants, Commemorative Ticket Art and Effigy Submissions have been extended until Sunday, September 22!
The new venue has incredible space for art, including dry interior spaces for our new Art Gallery. Gallery submissions will be open until mid-October. Send your grant applications and gallery submissions using the links here:  https://burntoranges.org/about-burnt-oranges/art-grants/

So, get your art and theme camps submitted now! And then watch your inbox and the floridaafterburn.com website to make sure you don’t miss the sale announcements. Remember, there are absolutely no ticket sales at the gate, and there are no spectators at Camp AfterBurn.

HEY, GUYS!

A Creative Opportunity
1. Do you want to see the breadth and depth of artistic talent of our community, but insulated from the elements in an enclosed structure, complete with power?
2. Have you ever wanted to see your art displayed, gallery style, where all your favorite burners could fully appreciate it?
3. Do you have smaller scale canvas, sculptural, fabric, or photographic art that you would be excited to have displayed?
4. Maybe you would like to create new art (possibly financed by an art grant) before AfterBurn?

For the Burns Phambly Reunion at Camp AfterBurn we are excited that we will provide such a space. The Art Grant Committee has a vision of creating a gallery to honor and appreciate the incredibly talented artists we have in our community, complete with a gallery opening party.

Go to Burnt Oranges – Art Grants to submit your desire to participate: https://burntoranges.org/about-burnt-oranges/art-grants/ If you have any questions, please direct them to .

Share Your Imagination
Your Committee would like to provide a commemorative ticket and sticker for our Burns Phambly Reunion (like the good old times). We want you, the community, to create the design to represent this year’s theme: Burns Phambly Reunion at Camp AfterBurn.

Please send your design as a .gif or .jpeg file to the Committee email: with a small description and your name for proper credit. Submissions for ticket/sticker designs will be open until September 15th at midnight.

Leaders Needed
A huge Thank You to our returning and new Leads & Co-Leads. We still need Leads and Co-Leads in the following areas:

Leads: Sound Marshal, Theme Camps
Co-Leads: Dogs, Cats, Earth Guardians, Volunteer Coordinator, Parking, Certified LifeGuard(s), Shower Guardians, Sound Marshal, Theme Camps

If you want to be a part of the fun and creativity that goes into creating the canvas for AfterBurn, step up to fill one of these great roles by emailing your Committee at .

How ’bout that?

HEY, GUYS!

Your Event Committee has listened to you, and we’re happy to confirm that we’ve found a new location for Camp AfterBurn. It’s FLAT, with showers, LOTS of shade and fewer ants. More information will be coming soon.

Calling all our artists and dreamers!

1. Do you art?
2. Do you want to share your art with the community at our Burns Phambly Reunion at Camp AfterBurn?
3. Are you ready to bring your “A” game?
4. Would an art grant help you do this?

If you said yes to all of the above, your time has come.

The period for formal submissions of art grants, including burnable art, is open. It will close at midnight on Sunday, September 15th.

There will be at least $5,000 available for art grants at AfterBurn.

This year we have decided to let the Phambly decide what art they would like to see brought to the event. After the submission period closes on September 15th, the Art Grant Committee will open the grants up to the Community for voting.

All references to artists and camps will be removed; we are asking that the artists allow each submission to be judged according to the art’s own merits. Voting will be via a Facebook poll, similar to the one used for the event committee members. Note: Any grant requests received after September 15th at midnight will not be considered for the community vote.

New this year: We will have some enclosed structures with electricity available to display your art and keep it safe from the elements.

Information on how to submit your art grant and online forms for submission can be found at https://burntoranges.org/about-burnt-oranges/art-grants/

Submissions for the Effigy and Temple should be sent to your Event Committee via email at

We can’t wait to see what your creativity will bring to life!
