The Blurb of Bob, Volume 6, Number 8

Four weeks to go!

Volume 6, Number 8
October 6, 2023

Greetings Burnt Oranges community,

We’re just one month out from AfterBurn 2023! That’s why we’re coming in hot with a bonus blurb with info you’re going to want to know about. For one, there’s a cold front on the way this weekend and we’re absolutely stoked about it! But more importantly, we have some updates to share about tickets, art, theme camps, and more.

Moving right along. Here’s what you’ll find in this newsletter.

  1. Volunteer Signups and a Special Directed OMG Ticket Sale
  2. Ticket Information Update
  3. Art Placement Request
  4. A Note for Theme Camps Who Have Reserved a Cabin
  5. Who What Where Guide Submissions
  6. Theme Camp Registration Closes Soon

Volunteer Signups and a Special Directed OMG Ticket Sale
As of this Blurb, we have a 42.9% volunteer sign-up for all Non-Core Adult tickets sold. If you have your ticket but have not signed up for a volunteer shift, please go here and sign-up for your volunteer shift. Volunteering is participating.

So, we are going to try something a little different around volunteer sign-ups and an OMG ticket sale. We have 59 critical shifts for Gate, Rangers (overnight Friday & Saturday 8 pm to 8 am), Sanctuary, and CATS Purrimeter (Effigy and Temple) that are unfilled.

We are opening an OMG Directed tier on Saturday October 7, 2023 at 12 pm with 59 tickets at a cost of $210.00. You will have until Monday, October 16, 2023 at 11:55 pm to buy for your ticket. How will you get your ticket?

You will email  with your name, phone number, team and shift date and time you want to fill. Go here to see all open shifts. (Please fill a critical shift if you are able but we will honor any team/shift request in the spirit of participation and radical inclusion.)

The Volunteer Coordinator will then sign you up for your requested shift and email you a code to buy your ticket. You will only be able to buy one ticket and you must purchase your ticket by Monday, October 16, 2023 11:55 pm.

FAQ:

Can I sign-up for a shift on the website and then email the volunteer team? We are asking that you email the volunteer team with your request so that they can sign you up to make it easier for our hard-working volunteer team to validate your shift and get you your code in a timely manner.

When will I get my code to buy my ticket? We will do our best to reply to all requests within 24 hours, but keep in mind we are all volunteers. Please do not send multiple emails as this will take time away from our volunteers to answer emails in a timely manner.

How many tickets have been sold? As of this Blurb, we have sold 191 Non-Core Adult tickets. Including Core, Minions, and General Participants we have sold 218 tickets.

Will there be another ticket sale after this special OMG sale? If we get more sign-ups with critical shifts filled, we might extend the OMG sale to anyone.

Ticket Information Update
Your ticket to AfterBurn 2023 does not have to be in the name of the ticket holder. The ticket holder just needs to have the ticket saved to their phone for gate to scan and a proper ID. Don’t forget your vehicle and RV passes.

Also, complete your waiver here for AfterBurn 2023. It’s easy-peasy, we promise. Do it before you arrive. Don’t wait until you arrive at the gate as you will be taken out of line to complete it, which will delay getting you into the event — and that’s no fun.

Art Placement Request
Artists who need placement of their art outside of their theme camp, be sure to let  know of your needs. They will work with you for the best placement and enjoyment of your art.

A Note for Theme Camps Who Have Reserved a Cabin

Theme Camps that have reserved a cabin, be sure to let  know your cabin assignment if you want placement near your cabin. Placement cannot be guaranteed near your cabin, but they will do their best to accommodate.

Who What Where Guide Submissions
Are you planning a super cool event at AfterBurn 2023? Maybe you’re serving wine and cheese, or you’re offering tarot readings? Perhaps you’re serving Cuban sandwiches on Friday night before Parade Brigade kicks off the event, or you’re having a gator wrestling contest? Whatever it is, we want to know about it. /" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Email me. If you want to make sure there’s no conflict before you submit, register your deets here and email me when you have your scheduling locked down.

Theme Camp Registration Closes Soon
Theme Camp registration closes on Friday, October 20, 2023 at 11:55pm. Register here, please and thank you. Note that registration closed for priority placement on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 11:55pm.
