The Blurb of Bob, Volume 6, Number 1

Our first blurb of the season!

Volume 6, Number 1
February 15, 2023

Greetings Burnt Oranges community!
It’s been such a beautiful winter season, with low humidity and sunny days putting us in a great mood. We’ve been hearing a lot about superb owls lately, for some reason, but we don’t mind. They are some fine specimens, especially the handful of species that call the sunshine state home.
We also hope you and your valentine had a nice day yesterday, even if you were the one who bought yourself flowers. You deserve them!

Very well then, here’s what you’ll find in this newsletter.

Dates and Theme for AfterBurn 2023
Okay, let’s get the exciting news out there first: We have dates and a theme for AfterBurn 2023! The event will be held at Camp La Llanada, which is great as we know how much y’all like this venue. Dates are Friday, November 3, 2023 through Sunday, November 5, 2023. As for the theme? It’s Fairytale Forest, which we love!

Call for Logo for AfterBurn 2023
Since we have a date and theme for AfterBurn 2023, we’re going to need a logo to celebrate the awesomeness! Please submit your artwork to  by March 31, 2023 for consideration. Will you lean into Brothers Grimm or Anansi the Spider? Or is Baba Yaga more your character of interest? Fairytales and folktales exist in cultures from around the world, so we welcome submissions that reflect that.

Message from the Board
Please join us as we offer huge thanks and gratitude to Robl, Katnip and Jay for their Board service! Their terms end at the end of the month and we are grateful for their help. They will be founding members of our newest Council of OWLS as advisors to the Board and Organization.

Desja, Melissa, and Carebare are excited to welcome new Board Member Cat Lafuente next month.

Letters of intent to join the Board are still being taken. Email you letters or any questions to .

Suggestion Box
Thank you to all who left such wonderfully positive suggestions and messages in our suggestion box! Your input is appreciated.
Event Planning received a suggestion for “More Cowbell.” They 100% support the submitter or anyone else with going forward and making this awesome suggestion reality. We are a do-acrcy!

Family-Friendly Camping Event
For All In Tents and Purposes: A Very Different Kind of Florida Burner Gathering
What is it that engages YOU in the Central Florida Burner community? Is it the art? Is it the people?
From March 17 to 19, the folks from Indaba Willage are gathering to address that question. We’re creating a family-friendly event at a state park just north of Brooksville, Florida and inviting 20 members of the community to join us with their sketchbooks and ideas. We’ll brainstorm about art, exchange ideas, dream big, make lanterns, and eat yummy pie.
The cost of the camping is our gift to you, but you will need to reserve your spot! Due to the location, this is a dry event with no alcohol or intoxicants, and all fires will be confined to a fire ring.
If this sounds interesting, please visit the web page and reach out to us using the form there:

Thanks for reading… and for making art, supporting art, and being a part of our community! Feel free to send me any updates.
