Volunteer Signup

We’ve been getting a lot of questions about volunteering, which is a good thing! As you know, no burn can happen without volunteers, and we’re all about that. I myself am a volunteer, so be like Bob and sign up here: https://floridaafterburn.com/volunteering/

Volunteer Leadership Needed

Speaking of volunteers, we’re in need of event leadership, specifically a Parking Co-lead, a Greeters Co-lead, a Gate Co-lead Backup, a Quartermaster, and a pre-site Volunteer Coordinator. If you want to be a part of the leadership magic at the event, reach out.

Theme Camp Registration

Theme camps are the beating heart of PreHeat, and priority registration closes on March 31, 2022. Applications received after that day will be placed where space is available. So be a hero and submit your application for your unique and incredible theme camp today. Click the link to get started! https://floridaafterburn.com/theme-camps

COVID-19 Policy

The Event Planning Committee is doing what they do best: planning an opening ceremony In order to burn safely, you will need either proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test taken within the last 48 hours to attend PreHeat 2022. Since there are indoor spaces at this event, we thought it to be the most responsible thing we can do. So in the spirit of radical self-reliance, make sure you have one or the other by the time you get to the gate. Read the full policy and any updates on the homepage: https://floridaafterburn.com/

Art Grant Deadline

The priority deadline to apply for an art grant is March 18, 2022, and the final deadline is April 8, 2022. Any grant applications received after the former will be allotted whatever funds are leftover. https://floridaafterburn.com/art/

Certified Lifeguards Neeses

Certified lifeguards are needed to have the pool open at Camp La Llanada per our contract with the property, and trust us — you want it open. Unfortunately, the prior vendor has opted not to re-sign with our event due to the nature of it (mainly alcohol is available, and their lifeguards had to stay overnight due to drive distance/time to the property each day. The company felt there were too many liabilities). That’s where radical self-reliance comes in again fam, and we’re sensing a theme. Are you ready to bring your life-saving skills to the table?

The American Red Cross lifeguard certification (with First Aid/CPR/AED) is all that is required to meet the property’s certification requirements. Financial assistance may be available if you wish to be certified. If you are in the Tampa Bay Area, check out: https://parks.tampagov.net/web/wbwsc/webtrac.wsc/search.html?SessionID=si&module=AR&keyword=Lifeguard

If you are currently certified or wish to certify to volunteer, please email both Event Planning at as well as Volunteers at .
