The Blurb of Bob, Volume 3, Number 10

October 28, 2019

HEY, GUYS!
You know you want to stop your AfterBurn packing and read it right now. Who’s coming? What are they bringing? It’s all on the Official Map and Bucket List, which you can download from the floridaafterburn.com website.

Are you planning to walk to AfterBurn? If so, we’d love hear that story. Otherwise, you’ll need a Vehicle Pass. You can buy one from the Brown Paper Tickets site through Tuesday (tomorrow!).

Last week’s call for volunteers brought a bunch of great folks to the AfterBurn Signup Genius page. That means we’ll get to use the pool, and our parking lot is not going to look like bumper cars at the State Fair. As always, there will be additional volunteer signups on site. Come to the InfoBooth, located in the Indaba, to find out what you can do to help your community. How ’bout that?

How to survive the weekend

To survive AfterBurn, read the Survival Guide. It’s full of tips and tidbits about our new venue, Camp La Llanada, and it’s especially good for folks who are new to Burning in Central Florida.

To not only survive, but thrive, download the Official Map and Bucket List. There will be some copies available at the event, but if you have a printer, we recommend you print it at home. You can come to the Indaba and color your copy any time during the weekend.

One more day to get ice pogs, vehicle passes, and tickets for friends

Until 8 pm Tuesday, October 29, you can still purchase the following on Brown Paper Tickets:

  • Tier 2 tickets ($125)
  • Vehicle passes ($10). You will need one to park — there is NO other parking available!
  • Ice pogs ($5). Ice is only available by presale at this event.

Coming early to set up? Review the Work Access Pass (WAP) rules before you come.

Early arrival is intended for work access only. “Thursday night parties” are not happening. “Trick or Treating” is not happening.

Anyone who is on-site before the Gate opens on Friday morning is expected to be actively working, setting up, or assisting others who are working or setting up. There are no exceptions.

Important Message from Camp La Llanada

The tiki hut at Camp La Llanada

Dear AfterBurn Phambly: We’re excited to have you at our property! Many children and grownups use this camp throughout the year and enjoy its peaceful surroundings.

Dear AfterBurn Phambly: We’re excited to have you at our property! Many children and grownups use this camp throughout the year and enjoy its peaceful surroundings.

However, we are a small camp and we don’t have a full-time cleaning staff.

We’ve asked the event organizers to share a message from us that we share with all of our campers at the start of every session: “Please treat public spaces with the utmost care. Please clean up after yourself and return the place to the same condition it was in when you arrived. It should be clean, tidy, and ready for our next visitors. If you make a mess, please find one of your event’s Earth Guardian Volunteers to ask for the proper supplies to clean it up. If you can do this, we’d be happy to have you back!”

The effigy burns in 5 days, but Bob will still be here long after the embers cool. Submit your AfterBurn photos and stories to the Blurb of Bob! Blurbs must be fewer than 200 words long and relevant to the entire AfterBurn community. Send ’em to Bob’s email address below.
